The Central Silk Board (CSB), a statutory body established in 1948 by an Act of Parliament, functions under the administrative control of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Engaged in carrying out, assisting and encouraging scientific, technical and economic research to improve the level of income in sericulture through dissemination of scientific sericulture practices to see India emerge as a leader in the world market for silk and to advise the Central Government on sericulture development.
